Rude marshal unsympathetic staff ignorant players, Sep 20, 2008

set out to enjoy a nice day of golf with husband and two teenager sons, although we have played golf before , golf is one of those sports that require years of playing and practising to get to a an adequate level. Since golf is this company's business you figure they would know this, and properly place people with start times with some room (possibly 5 - 7 minutes before the next team is ready to start. To make this short we were too slow for the Tiger wood's wannabes behind us that they complained. Yet we were doing our best by playing best ball. The marshall for a second time came and glarred then lectured us how we were so far behind( 1 hole between us and group before us) I believe is more like 1/2 hole. Perhaps if he didn't keep interrupting us and lecturing us we would have been a few minutes ahead. Mean while back at the ranch the more experienced golfers who should know better but needed to prove a point, shot a ball and almost clipped me. So much for the gentleman's sport . I brought up my issue at the club house asking how are beginners to learn the game if everybody is so impatient. The reply was that perhaps I could have booked a later start time, perhaps my advise to them would be to try to squeeze less people in so that there might be some breathing room for all, and maybe we can enjoy the fresh air in a stress free environment.

I have never had a worse experience at a golf course. From top to bottom my experience at Banty’s Roost was off-putting. First, the course maintenance is awful. The greens do not look like they are maintained at all, the fairways are in rough shape and the ‘sand’ is hard as a rock. Second, the course layout is boring, it is wide-open, lacks distance markers and the signage is awful. Third, it is an expensive course for the quality. Lastly, and maybe the most troubling thing about this course, the staff is rude. The young people selling beer/food were very nice but the comments, attitude and behavior of the management and marshal was astonishing. There are many other courses in the area that are a much better value and would act as though they appreciate your business. Steer clear of this course.

Banty's Roost regular player review, Jul 05, 2004

Conditions have greatly improved over the last 3 years. Pro shop offers great service. CPGA professional on site, lessons available. Junior golf camps available. Began as diamond in the rough, but polishing has paid off. Great practice range (grass and mats/ chipping and putting greens). Excellent value for your golf dollar.
