This course is located in a quiet, pastoral valley, surrounded by mountains. The greens are fast and moderately undulating, and the fairways are forgiving, but the premium shot is to the green. The signature hole is #16, a 405-yard, par 4, which is bordered on the right by water, making it a demanding hole toward the end of your round. The designer, Bob Cupp, is quoted as saying, "there is mountain golf, and golf in the mountains, and Big Sky is truly golf in the mountains." Six times a year, the resort hosts all-women instructional programs with all-women professionals. Big marks are also given for the Kaddyshack for Kids program, which offers junior lessons and babysitting. The 6,037-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 75.1 and a slope of 129.
