This is the oldest golf course still in its original location in North America. The course was cut out of dense forest area and is very hilly with several elevation changes. The fairways are fairly narrow and tree lined, making accuracy important. Every hole has sand bunkers strategically placed. The signature hole is #8, a 523-yard, par 5, which features water hazards on both sides of the fairway. The fairway slopes downhill to the green, which has a large sand bunker behind it. This hole is very scenic and offers an incredible view of the surrounding area. The pull carts are electric powered.

| The course is not a long one, but punishes golfers who are not accurate. Hitting like Tiger will not help you much, if you are as accurate on drives. Greens are anything but easy too. As much in the lower Hudson area is either sand or swamp, some holes can be wet - particularly if there has been some recent wet weather. You need waterproof shoes for sure. The course has some good variety on hole layout, and provides an opportunity to use virtually every club in your bag. Membership rates are very reasonable, and improvements go in every year - mostly on the course itself. Overall, an above average experience, typifying more country than club. |
