This is a uniquely hilly course with some trees in the design. Wildlife, such as deer, can be seen while playing. All of the holes but two have elevated tees above the primarily straight fairways. Water hazards, bunkers and the undulating greens also provide a challenge. An all-day rate is also available.

Potentially the Best Nine Hole Golf Course in the World, Dec 29, 2007
|
reviewer: Kirk Meldrum

| The golf course at Fundy National Park has the potential to be the best 9 hole course in the world. Set in the diverse and picturesque national park, this Stanley Thompson design has extra-ordinary features which set it apart form other courses. The course has 3 spectacular elevated tees onto generous fairways inviting that extra distance off the tee. You had better have seized that invitation because it is immediately withdrawn. Dixon Brook wanders across 8 of the 9 holes and the fairway tightens around most of the greens.
If you can hit a long ball with reasonable accuracy this course can be rewarding. For the rest of us the long shots into tight greens put a frightening demand on our short games. In either case, whether you get caught by long tee shots which are not quite accurate enough or too many chips too far from the hole you would leave with a tip of your hat to the course and a vow of revenge on the morrow; IF
Fundy's potential was complimented with even adequate course care. It isn't watered and fungicides and fertilizers are prohibited leaving dried out, grassless fairways and pock marked often unplayable greens. The lack of care leaves a course with the potential of being one of the best 9 hole courses available, to an inadequate facility that is condemned to failure by deluge of golfers going elsewhere for a golfing experience where their weaknesses, not the course's, determine their score.
With golf courses as with life, potential is nice but performance is what counts. |
