This course has two different styles, the front nine is a links-style design with wide open fairway and few trees. The back nine is hilly and features tight, tree-lined fairways. The well-protected greens are medium-sized and fast. The signature hole is #10, a 430-yard, par 5, which calls for a downhill tee shot to the tight fairway, and a second shot over a gully to the green.

A Steal of a Deal at Qualicum's Glengarry, Sep 07, 2004

| From the moment you arrive and look out over the practice facility and winding fairways you realize that you have made the right choice. For less than $40 you get all the balls you can hit and all the golf you can handle despite what appears to be shorter yardage than you are used to. The holes are well spaced with good variety, long, short, tight, open. The greens are smallish with good contour and well protected. Excellent par threes and a good variety in the par fours, varing from the extemly tough #2 (if you get on this one in two, congratulations) to the driveable # 7
The par fives all appear to be reachable, but you better hit two of you Sunday best or you deal with the water and trees. Did I mention water. How about water on 1,2,3,4,9,12,13,14,15,16,17,&18. The front nine is guarded on all sides by the highest meanest GORSK or what ever you want to call it that I've ever seen(Don't bother looking for your ball, they might never find you, use the lateral hazard rule. The back nine is a wonderful trip through old growth forest and when the redesigned 16th 17th and 18th holes open in 2005, it may be the most enjoyable course on the Island. An easy walk that will amaze you with the manicured condition, playability, challenge, views, wildlife, friendly and accomadating staff and tranquility. Future plans include villa's that will not interfere with the golf. I'm putting my name in for one, you should too. |
