A classic Stanley Thompson course!, Dec 03, 2004

| This course is a classic course. Designed by a true pioneer who later became the inspiration for John Watson among others. Green Gables is an inexpensive track which offers an enjoyable and scenic round of classic evergreen forest-lined fairways. This course was in part carved out of the woods. The back nine travels in part along the shores of cavendish beach. You can smell the salt air surround you and notice that there is not a sign of civilization until you need to cross the road (to get to the other side!) to play the rest of the course.
I play it every time I go to the Island alogn with Eagle's Glen (nest door) and Crobush Cove (a definite must for links golf enthusiasts) where the infamous skins game between Fred COuples, Daly, and Mark O'Meara occured.

An excellent course for the money, Jun 22, 2004

| There are more scenic, more difficult and more expensive courses on PEI but for sheer enjoyment at a reasonable cost, there are none better. Green Gables is always well kept and it offers the average golfer (95% of us) as much challenge and excitement as we want. The fairways are generous and allows those of us who aren't always down the middle a reasonable opportunity to go for the green. The greens are consistent and the surroundings very pleasant. I've been lucky to play a lot of courses in Canada and the US and can honestly say this is a fovourite we come back to every year. This course will not leave you feeling "beat up" but rather leave you wanting more. It is a great value for the money! |
