This course is ten minutes from Downtown Winnipeg, but the magnificent old elm and oak trees, coupled with the design of the course, gives players the sense of seclusion. Because the course is located at the elbow of the Seine River, there is rolling terrain rather than the usual flatlands found in the area. Play is difficult due to the unforgiving tree-lined fairways, water hazards and bunkers. The most scenic hole is #13, a 380-yard, par 4, offering a view of the Seine River and some lovely trees. A particularly difficult hole is #10, a 520-yard, par 5, featuring a dogleg left, tree-lined fairway and a green completely surrounded by bunkers. Niakwa hosted the Canadian Open in 1961. Reciprocal bookings must be made by the pros at the participating clubs. The 6,223-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 75.6 and slope of 132. The 5,781-yard ladies' tee also has a men's course rating of 68.5 and slope of 118.

Golfable Golf Quote of the Day:
" The fundamental problem with golf is that every so often, no matter how lacking you may be in the essential virtues required of a steady player, the odds are that one day you will hit the ball straight, hard, and out of sight. This is the essential frustration of this excruciating sport. For when you've done it once, you make the fundamental error of asking yourself why you can't do this all the time. The answer to this question is simple: the first time was a fluke. -Colin Bowles "
