This club offers superior training facilities. There are seven teaching professionals on staff, including Bruce Murray, who has been honored as a Master Professional, a very distinctive and highly selective honor. The course offers views of the Pacific Ocean and Vancouver International Airport. The challenging terrain was host to the Royal Canadian Golf Association Training Camp in 1999 and also garnered the ranking of #7 in Score Magazine's "Top 50" Canadian golf courses in 1998. The signature hole is #18, a 439-yard, par 4, featuring an uphill approach into the wind to the green, which is well-protected by bunkers.

CANADIAN OPEN CHOOSES SHAUGUNESSY FOR ITS RETURN TO THE WEST, Jun 03, 2005

| For the 1st time in 39 years the Canadian Open will be played in the west and for only the 2nd time in 40 years (Sept.8-11/05) this PGA TOUR event is again being staged at the private Shaughnessy G&CC--a tribute that speaks volumes for this luxurious shotmaker's course.
Perched on the side of a cliff overlooking an International airport to the south, the Pacific Ocean and Vancouver Island to the west, snowcapped Mount Baker to the east and Vancouver's ever-present North Shore Mountain range, Shaughnessy offers as many rewards as it does challenges for those lucky enough to be invited onto this well-sculptured, tree-lined Vernon Macan-designed masterpiece. Ironically, Macan's earlier Shaughnessy Heights course served as the west's first host of the Canadian Open in 1948.
Vijay Singh of Fiji will defend his 2004 Bell Canadian Open title which he won in a playoff against Masters Champion (2003) Mike Weir of Canada. |
