This facility has three nine hole courses that are played in eighteen hole combinations. These courses are located on the banks of the Assiniboine River on flat prairie land. The North Course, which is the original design, has open fairways and five water hazards. The West Course, added in the late 1950's by Norman H. Woods, features narrow fairways and a dense tree population. The well-maintained greens are very fast. Each course has a signature hole, on the South Course it is #9, a scenic 450-yard, par 4, offering a lovely view of the hole from the tee as it follows alongside the river. The signature hole on the West Course is #3, a 384-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot from an elevated tee over water, then an approach shot to a reverse sloping green flanked in the back by the river. On the North Course, it's #9, a 580-yard, par 5, requiring a straight tee shot to a fairway with a large swale 250 yards from the tee box. There are three very large trees 200 yards from the green guarding the right fairway. In 1992, St Charles hosted the LPGA Canadian Open won by Sherie Steinheur. The three forward tees have ratings for both men and ladies.
