This is a well-manicured course that has a creek flowing through the design, affecting play on fourteen of the eighteen holes. The fairways are fairly flat and the large greens are undulating. The signature hole is #2, a 525-yard, par 5, featuring a narrow fairway bunkered on both sides and the toughest approach shot on the course. The green is guarded by water and trees, so straight shots are a must. John Thompson designed the back nine, which opened in the mid-1970's.

| All in all, Steinbach Fly-In is an excellent mature rural track. The staff are very friendly and accomidating and the course is usually in very good condition, although they do have the same weather related issues as all courses in this part of the world.
Not an overly difficult course, it has fairly generous fairways and medium to large greens. There is considerable difficulty out there for wayward shots, however if the knowledgable golfer knows where the real trouble lies, it can generally be avoided with a little planning and decent execution.
All in all, I've enjoyed numerous rounds at Steinbach Fly-In, and would have no reservations about recommending this course to anyone. |
