This course is located near the Manitoba/North Dakota border on the banks of the Red River. There is a dyke that surrounds the course, which of course plays out-of-bounds. The terrain is generally flat with some gently rolling contours, and densely populated with mature elm trees. The fairways are extremely narrow and tree lined, necessitating positional golf. The greens are average-sized, and some are quite undulating. Hole #7 has two greens, one when playing the first nine holes and another for the second. The signature hole is #8, a 520-yard, par 5, which has everything that defines the course. The tee box is enclosed in a grove of trees and there are three fully-mature elm trees in the middle of the fairway. Should you choose to try and reach the green in two shots your tee shot must be positioned to the left of the trees, but not too far, or else you'll be out-of-bounds. The hole parallels the Red River and a road must be crossed twice. The large green is protected by bunkers on the right, left and front. There is an additional set of tees when playing an eighteen hole round. Non-members may play on weekends and holidays after 3 PM.

An extremely challenging course that tests all parts of the player's game. Worth the visit.

Suprisingly hard, Nov 01, 2004
reviewer: Greg from Winnipeg, MB Canada
Only a nine hole course, but plays extremely tough and very tight. Have played The Wildewood club many time and have found you need many different shots to do well. Have enjoyed every round.
