Course Description
This facility has a regulation eighteen hole course and a regulation nine hole course. A fourth nine is expected to open in 2000. On weekends, the facility separates into three nine hole courses that are played in three eighteen hole combinations. Most golfers play the Woodside/Vista combination, but all combinations are possible. The Woodside Course is fairly wide open, but there are greenside bunkers on every hole. The Lakeside Course was built on more undulating terrain than its sister course, so it is harder to make proper club selections because of the optical illusions caused by the various rises and depressions in the fairways. The Vista Course is more open than the other courses. Hole #4, a 155-yard, par 3, features a panoramic view of the Youghiogheny River Valley. Water hazards come into play on all three courses. John Butler built the original eighteen holes with horses and scoops in 1928. In 1963, some of those original holes were reconfigured and nine new ones were added, with the help of Ed Ault. A family discount rate is available on weekends after 5 PM. If you bring a child under the age of seventeen, the whole group receives a discount on green fees. In addition, a four hole practice course is located here, and lessons are available. Tee times for weekends are reserved at 10 AM the Tuesday before. Carts are required on weekends before 1 PM.
