Course Description
This facility, which was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1996 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," features three regulation eighteen hole courses and a sporty nine hole course. These courses were built on the highest elevated terrain in the local area. The North Course, rated by "Golf Digest" as the 39th best among the "Top 75 Resort Courses" for 1992, features open fairways, whereas the South Course has narrow fairways. "Golf Digest" also rated the South Course as the 3rd "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. They also rated it as the 19th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 20th best for 1997-98. The same publication ranked the South 38th out of the "Top 75 Resort Courses for 1992," and awarded it 75th among the "Top 75 Upscale Courses" for 1996. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" rated it 94th best under the 1996 category of "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." The newly built General Course is the most challenging design. Many people will appreciate the views of three states from several of the tee boxes. The signature hole is #14, a 357-yard, par 4, featuring a tee box perched on a humongous limestone cliff, plus a green located 200 feet below that provides a nice view of the cliff face. A creek flows throughout all the courses and comes into play on a number of holes. "GOLF Magazine" selected the course 95th in its 1998 list of the "Top 100 Courses You Can Play in the U.S." The Eagle Ridge Golf Academy is located on the premises; for additional information call (815) 777-5200. The 6,006-yard men's tee for the General Course also has a ladies' course rating of 75.2 and slope of 138. The 5,335-yard ladies' tee for the General Course also has a men's course rating of 66.7 and slope of 119.
