Course Description
This club has two eighteen hole courses. The North Course is very forgiving. Water hazards (one pond and one creek) come into play on four holes. The wind becomes a factor at times. The multi-tiered and elevated greens add to the difficulty of the course. The signature hole is #14, a 444-yard, par 4, on the North Course. This hole was chosen by the Chrysler Corporation as one of "America's Greatest Eighteen Holes." The North Course was the site of the 1997 U.S. Senior Open. "Golf Digest" rated this course 63rd best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 62nd best for 1997-98. They also rated it as the 5th "Best in State" course for the years 1995 through 1998. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" selected it 96th best in the category of "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 78th in 1997 and 86th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 86th among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 42nd in 1998 and 51st in 1999. The South Course is beautiful and features many trees and scenic views. There is a different pond but the same creek running through this course. Water hazards come into play on eight holes. The 1928 U.S. Open was played here and the winner was Johnny Farrell. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 20th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 17th best for 1997-98. Both courses have been remodeled by Jack Daray and Larry Packard.
