Course Description
This club, located alongside a 180-acre lake, features two championship eighteen hole courses. The picturesque club is an oasis in the Sandhills; an eclectic blend of natural and man-made resources that combine the serenity of nature with the elegance of gracious living. The terrain varies from flat to rolling and is extremely wooded. The Maples Course's holes #1 through #4 are surrounded by water and its other five holes have many sand bunkers incorporated into their designs. Many of the fairways are dogleg configurations. The signature hole is #2, a 512-yard, par 5, featuring the most difficult dogleg fairway and requiring a tee shot over water to a landing area guarded by sand bunkers and water, then an approach shot over water to a well-bunkered green. The Maples Course has water hazards coming into play on four holes. The water hazard in play on hole #18, a 523-yard, par 5, is almost an exact replica of the one on hole #2. This hole requires a tee shot over water to a well-bunkered, dogleg left fairway, then an approach shot over water to a small green. This course has water hazards coming into play on six holes. In the past, the club hosted the Carolina PGA Tournament. The Palmer Course features unique heat-tolerant greens that are well-protected and maintained. Nine holes are wooded and the other nine are links-style. There is a defined cut of rough measuring two inches that borders the fairways, and water hazards (lakes) come into play on six holes. The toughest hole is #10, a 489-yard, par 4, requiring an uphill tee shot over two large bunkers protecting the left-center of the fairway. The fairway doglegs slightly to the left, and the undulating green slopes back to front with water along the front and right side. The Total Performance Golf School is located at this club, for more information, call (910) 245-4031.
