This is by far the best course I have played that encompasses all of the ammentities of golf. The location of this course is great. The natural setting of the course makes it feel likes it been there for 100 years but its still only 7 years old. Course is well maintained,staff there is great. Course is a challenge for any golfer you old good or bad. |

This course is relatively inexpensive, in good condition, has a real restaurant, a great pro shop and only minutes away from SF Airport.
The greens are true and well maintained, the fairways are broad and the rough is generally forgiveable unless the superintendent had a bad month and wants to take it out on the duffers by junking it up and letting it grow out.
While the first hole can be reached in two for the long hitter, most golfers should par or at least bogey this straight par 5 starter. However, any golfer will be pleased with a bogey on hole 2 which is dogleg right with water at the end of your tee shot and all along the left fairway. Big hitters will want to play this hole smart with a three wood or less! Hole number 3 is no slouch either with water just short and left of the green about 180 yards out from the back tees. From there on out the front nine plays quite nicely with another par 5 on number 9 heading into the afternoon NW winds.
The back nine starts off easy enough with a long par 4 for the men, par 5 for the women, but then hole 10 has a water canal and a pond between the tee boxes and the green not to mention a greenside bunker and some trees and electrical towers in the right rough just to liven things up a bit.
All in all, just when you think you're playing a wide open forgiving course is when your ball finds it's way into the tree line. This isn't a very difficult course, but if the occasional winds kick up in the afternoon your ball may find itself in the tree line begging for a creative punch shot back into the fairway.
The course is very walkable, but power carts, pull carts, and push carts are available upon request in the pro shop. The pro shop rents Calloway and Wilson sets not to mention all of the latest drivers, fairway woods and wedges to try out. They even let people take out brand new Calloway 6 irons for free. They have the latest clothes and equipment and even have better prices on some things I've seen in the so-called "discount" golf warehouses.
Dollar for dollar, this golf course is as good as it gets on the peninsula. |
