Country Club of Ashland -- CCof A
Review by: Jumbo It is very easy to get into trouble on this tight course. I carry an between a 17 and 18 handicap at the course and I find it the most difficult in the area. The fairways are hilly and at times a good drive can mean an unlevel second shot. The greens on a dry day are like putting on glass and certain holes like #1 and #4 are very hard to putt. Anything above the hole on an approach can make for an easy three putt green. This is a course where you have to be able to get off the tee at least 220 or you will have a long day. A beautiful course with a lot of character, the Country Club of Ashland is one of two really nice courses in Ashland County. I would recommend playing it at least once in your lifetime! Don't expect a great score on your first attempt and bring a lot of balls with you. The rough and water hazards at this course are known for swallowing them! Good luck!

Ivy Hills Country Club -- Even members hate this course! Working is more fun!
Review by: Mark Where to begin? -this course defies walking and riding a cart presents an element of danger, because of the slope -good shots are not rewarded unless one can stop a ball on the side of a hill -trouble (e.g., fairway bunkers) cannot always be seen from the tee -putts seem to break uphill and some greens are so heavily sloped that either some pin placements are unfair or some parts of greens cannot be used -#16, an uphill par 5, plays directly into the afternoon sun -because the entire course is built into a hillside, the only view one has is of a nearby gravel pit -roughs are not groomed, to give the look of a links-style course. However, continual watering makes the rough fierce to play from, if one can even find a ball in there If invited to play this course, it would be better to decline the invitation...
