Hanover Country Club -- Tougher than you think
Review by: Anonymous I'm a member and am always amused when newcomers show up and see the short yardage the course plays. They think it'll be a push over and immediately go to the back tees. If you spray your shots, you're going to score a big number. The scenery on the course is very nice, especially in the fall. The course has produced a ladies and mens state champion so there must be some merit to knowing where your shots are headed. It is a very enjoyable afternoon of golf in the countryside of Hanover County Virginia. Its surrounded by homes, farms, and the South Anna River.

Royal Virginia Golf Club -- Great Test
Review by: C Barry Excellent par fours that test not only driving accuracy, but long iron and fairway wood approaches. Course will play even tougher later in the year when rough comes fully. Bunkers re-filled with sand. Excellent changes of elevation for a piedmont Va course. Your troubles are not over once you get to the green, subtle breaks make three putts likely from above the hole. Par fives and par threes are comparatively easy. Majority of par 4s play over 430 yds (some as long as 475). Tough but fair, good shots are rewarded, but you must "bring" your driver with you and know you won't hit too many 7-8-9 irons unless you lay up.
