This is my hometown course so my review maybe a little biased. The Athens Country Club has and will always be one of the hardest 9 holes I've ever played. Tight fairways, small greens, and strategically placed hazzards are the defining characteristics of this course. Holes 7, 8, and 9 will challenge any golfers manhood. |

One of the best courses in Ohio, especially for the money. Well maintained, nicely treed. Back 9 more narrow and difficult than the front. Plenty of gullies and water to avoid. Very pleasant setting, courteous staff. Fairways and greens kept in good condition. You can play 18 and maybe see only a few houses through the trees. Oh yes, the trees. Keep those drives straight on these narrow fairways. Always a challenge, always scenic. Only thing I wish they would change is go to the electric carts rather than the loud, sputtering propane ones.
Also: #13 par 3 is one BEAR of a hole. Get on the green from the tee or it's bogey city. |
