| Cypress Golf Course - Course -- One of the better bargains in Metro Phoenix golf |
| Review by: Craig |
Cypress has a long 9 and a short 9. The short 9 is a great place for iron practice, made up mostly of par 3s (100 - 220 yds). You don't even need a driver for the par 4s, just a long iron off the tee.
The long 9 is a little more challenging, but not much. There is a drainage ditch that cuts across some of the holes, and a water hazard in front of the 7th tee.
The fairways are straight and open on both courses, but the greens on the short 9 tend to be a little ragged.
Other than the aforementioned 7th hole on the long 9, the most challenging hole is the par 5 3rd hole. In addition to being the longest hole (590 yds?), it has the narrowest fairway, at least for me. As a lefty with a slice, I have seen way too many of my tee shots end up in deep desert. There is room to the right, though. I just never seem to find it. :)
There is a driving range, putting green, and chipping green to practice on. The proshop is well-stocked, and there is a snack bar there, too.
Greens fees are reasonable, and subject to seasonal adjustments. |
