Columbia Golf & Country Club -- *Short but challenging*
Review by: LR	CG&CC is a challenging course (slope 133) not because of its length (only a bit over 6,200 yards from the back tees) but because it is tight requiring accurate tee shots. In addition, the greens are small, fast and undulating so you need to hit precise approach shots and be a solid putter. In fact, this course is one where the "golfer" as opposed to the "big hitter" can shine and let the big hitters "reload".

Dyker Beach Golf Course -- *Busy Course For A Reason*
Review by: 9 handicap	Accessible from the subway (R train to 86th st. 5-10 min walk). First time I went to play was at noon on a Monday. I couldn't go out until 3pm. The following Monday, I made a tee time (which they charge a few dollars for) and it took just under 6 hours for 18 holes with a cart. Apparently, it's "always busy", and it should be because it's a nice course. It's well taken care of. Some greens are nicer than others but they're all large, fairly quick and have nice breaks. Bunkers come into play on every hole but #1. The course isn't too long. All four of the par 5's are under 500 yards from the back tees. Some of the doglegs setup some tempting tee shots but can lead to serious trouble if you don't nail it. All in all, very nice for a NYC course I can get to by the subway.... just expect a slow day.

"Great Course, Great Value."
Living in the midst of legends like grossingers and the concord monster, Tarry Brae offers an equal genre style course at a much better value. Greens usually run fast and true, and the layout is niether quirky nor tricky. A traditional layout at a reasonable price. Game on!

Westport Country Club, The
"Adirondack gem."
My favorite layout in the Adirondacks, a course you can play 100's of times and never tire of. After a difficult first hole you are presented with good scoring opportunities on the front. Holes 10 thru 13 are as tough as they come and as scenic, they stick in the minds of golfers at every level. Take time to chat (or have a lesson) with John Hall, PGA pro and managing partner, I guarantee he'll be friends with at least one pro from your area.

Painesville Country Club
"Just an nice play to play golf !!"
When you start to play Painesville Country Club you are reminded of how old courses used to be designed and how Arnie and his cronies use to enjoy just being here. The front nine is somewhat open with a tree or bush here and there to keep you in the game. This first hole is a 5 par that you need to hit the ball straight to setup your next shot to the top of hill and just a nice 9-iron to the green. The back nine takes you into a different world of golf which calls for accuracy and "golf course management", trees line each hole and force you to think about your next shot. Famous for it's 11 hole, a nice 3 par that is over 200 yards that are all downhill and lined with trees on both sides. When you finally get out of the woods, you have the last two holes (5 pars) to play. The course is in beautiful shape and the greens are closed to being the "truest" one can putt on. Only thing that is missing on the course is a few more sand traps to make it a complete adventure. Thanks to the Management and Groundcrew for making this a great place to play golf on a sunny day.
