Continental Golf Course -- Decent low end course
Review by: Craig Continental GC is an 18-hole executive course (par 60). Many of the greens and tee boxes are elevated, but overall, this is a flat, open course well-suited for practicing iron play. Most of the holes are par 3s (100 - 180 yds), with the par 4s ranging up to 330 yds or so. The greens are in decent shape, though some of the fairways are a little brown (standard for AZ in the summer.) The course's biggest negative, for beginners anyway, is that the 1st hole runs along the side of the open driving range. My first tee shot hooked right into it. With apartments lining one side, and the range along the other, the net effect is a narrow practical hitting area. Also, the first fairway was covered in range balls. Fortunately, the Club uses yellow practice balls, so it is easy to find yours. The clubhouse is decent-sized, if a little expensive, and there is a restaurant on site. I found the fees a little high for a course like this, but it still falls well within the 'bargain' range. (Approx. $20 for 18 holes with a cart - summer prices a little lower, and morning play a little higher.) Overall, this course is good for people looking for a quick 18 without paying resort rates.
