| Coronado Golf Course -- Great value and good golf... |
| Review by: C. Moore |
I have played this course on two occasions, and I must say that for the money there is no better value in San Diego(aside from Torrey Pines). Oddly, it remains kind of a secret among many local golfers I have spoken with. The course plays near the water, with views of downtown San Diego, the Coronado Bridge and the Hotel Del Coronado. Even in San Diego, this course is in a beautiful location. The course is challenging, but reasonable. One caveat: It plays EXTREMELY slow, which I have found is the norm for many course in San Diego. In fact, I have never seen the 17th and 18th holes in the two times I have played. So...get an early tee time. Don't bother to get a cart if you can walk, which is easy since the course is flat. A cart is a waste of money with this course, since it plays so slow. |

For a fast round of 9-holes this course is very enjoyable, and actually quite challenging. The greens are all in good condition throught the year, and so are the fairways. Par 3's range from 90-yards to 205-yards, and the par 4s are long enough where you can hit driver and/or 3-wood. Wonderful practice putting green surrounding water and driving range is also nice.
For the price and convenience of walking on without a long wait, it's a winner in my book. |
