Commonwealth National Golf Club -- You'll wish you could join
Review by: Jim 5th time playing Commonwealth last week and came away wishing I had the coin to be a member. I LOVE this course. No pretense to the club and/or it's members and not a lot of BS in the holes. Just play golf. Conditions are pefect. Fairways are immaculate, greens are smooth (fast but not scary intimidating,) and rough will cost you 1/2 a shot. Front nine is fun. Kind of warms you up as you go along. Makes you hit shots to spots which is a great skill to have as you go to the back 9. I am a long hitter, (8 handicap) but find that when I play here, I have to dial it back just a bit, especially on the back. The holes are straightforward without a lot of trickeration. Hit a good shot and you'll be fine. Miss one and double bogey is staring you in the face. Favorite holes are 4, 6, 9, 13, 14 and 15. 18 kills me every time, but my member friend says it kills everbody. Have played most of the top notch privates in the area and if I were to join a club to play everyday, his would be the one.
