Vestavia Country Club -- *Good Variety - Good condition*
Review by: John Crawford	While not a classic layout, this course has a pleasant amount of variety and is in very good condition. Designed in 1948, this course (like all of those in the pre-golf cart era) is very walkable due to parallel fairways. VCC is located on the top of Shades Mountain with gentle slopes on many holes. The course is short from the White tees (6200 yards) and much more challenging from the back (6800+). The front and back sides are quite different with the front having 3 par fives and straightway or gentle dogleg holes. The back has only one par 5 and numerous dogleg par 4's that require driving precision. Fairways are of medium width and good drives reward short to moderate approaches to the greens. VCC's excellent bent grass greens are the strength of the course. This is a private club and the course is maintained in excellent condition. The only remaining factor here is the spectacular views of the valleys and mountains below the course. In some cases vistas of 8+ miles can be seen.
