Played here...front desk needs some work on staggering the groups to keep good flow--was no busier than many, many other courses I have played. Fairways in good shape for elevation and greens also good. Not a spectacular course, but good. Maybe I am just spoiled having played so many years on courses in AZ, CA, and TX, but I still give a GOOD grade as far as physical playing conditions. Views while playing course are very spectacular, and #3 hole, Par 3 is visually stunning from the elevated green. Would play here again, but they would need to come up with better deals for playing, ie twilight rates, early bird, etc. I have played muni's in better physical condition (fairways, greens)--but playability is definitely there on this course, and the views make up for a lot of lacking conditions. Also, if you're a visiting lowlander and new in the Black Hills...get a cart as this is a very dramatic and hilly course and by hole #4 you will be winded from up, down, up, down, up, down,, plus the elevation. In closing, definitely worth a play. |
