The Lakes at El Segundo is a beutiful course with some stunning par 3s. The couse is made up of moslty short par 3s and a couple short par 4s. The holes are all very short and beautifully kept. This couse can be played by both beginners and eperts alike. The downsides are that the course is crowded, so expect to wait on the tees. I recomend reservations several days in advance. The other downside is that your day is over after only nine holes. The practice facility is excellent and Tiger Woods, who has a home in nearby Redondo Beach can often be seen playing there. It has an awesome driving range and a huge putting and chipping green. If your just out to get some practice in, or a quick nine holes, this is the place. |

I have played the Lakes at El Segundo many times. It is a fun, little pitch & put course just off the PCH, set amongst the El Segundo refineries near the airport. The fumes from the refineries often waft across the course. In spite of its name, I don't remember seeing any lakes. The redeeming feature is its proimity to LAX airport. In the days before the long security checkin lines, you could sneak in a quick 9 holes before heading to the airport rental car return areas only about 15 minutes away.
There is an old Joke that goes: Question- "How's your wife?" Answer: "Better than nothin'" Well so is this course.
Regarding Tiger, not unless he is visiting the head Pro, who if he has not retired, was a very well respected golf instructor. I forget his name, but there was an article about him a few years ago in one of the golf magazines. |

This begginer course is an excellent learning exprience for young children. In fact I am playing there tommorrow. the fairways are in really good shape. However if you want to take out the driver, think about the driving range. Otherwise it is the 2nd best course I have ever seen besides the Widows in Sunriver Orgen. |
