Featured Golf Course Review:
Stonewall -- Great Golf Course
Review by: Bill If you are looking for a golf course that will simply stroke your ego as you outdrive your buddies, pass on this one. I had the pleasure for golfing "The Old Course" this past September. It is a true golf club. The course is challenging in an unconventional way. To me, most contemporary courses make things challenging simply by forcing a lot of carry off the tee and playing long. I guess that plays into the average male macho ego. Stonewall has carry and is long, but I think that it is one of the most complete courses I have ever played. Just golf. Walking only (on the Old Course). No pretense.

Northampton Valley Country Club -- acceptable course considering easy tee times
Review by: Crusher I showed up as a single on a Saturday in July at about 10:00 a.m. I was sent out within 10 minutes, and played 18 in about 3 1/2 hours. The course was in generally good shape. The layout is a bit of a neighborhood course, winding through some townhomes, and with several street crossings between holes. I never like this sort of hole to hole distance, but it wasn't too bad. I think the traps and landscaping could be improved quite a bit. There are some long par 4's and testy par 3's for the average golfer. I played the tips, as a 7 handicapper, and shot an 80. Typically, I'd say that's about a fair course. With some improved asthetics, I think this could be a nice course. Many of the holes, considered on their own, are nice holes. All in all, I'll call it a 3 out of 5 stars because it's better than all those cow pasture courses out there.
