If you are looking for a golf course that will simply stroke your ego as you outdrive your buddies, pass on this one.
I had the pleasure for golfing "The Old Course" this past September. It is a true golf club. The course is challenging in an unconventional way. To me, most contemporary courses make things challenging simply by forcing a lot of carry off the tee and playing long. I guess that plays into the average male macho ego. Stonewall has carry and is long, but I think that it is one of the most complete courses I have ever played. Just golf. Walking only (on the Old Course). No pretense. |

Ligonier is simply a great course. It isn't very long, but it's shortness is made up for with extremely difficult greens. There are many spectacular views of southwestern Pennsylvania. The course employees are very helpful and polite. The professional is extremely kind and can answer nearly any question. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking for a challenging round, beautiful surroundings and an extemely well-kept course. |
