My impression of this golf course initially was one of indifference due to my game inadequacies and the degree of difficulty of this track. Since I have returned numerous times to the Charlottesville area and played most of the local quality golf facilities, I keep returning to Royal Virginia to test my patience and par search.
One of the nicest professionals I have ever met, Kevin Haney, makes any visitor regardless of handicap feel like a long lost friend.
The gentile nature of most Virginians, with their quiet manner of civility, permeates this club and even a damn yankee feels right at home.
If ever there was any doubt, the game of golf is truly one of life's casual pursuits, and better than most sports; you arrive as a total stranger, leave feeling like you made a friend for life.
Oh yes, not to brag but my handicap rating is 6.7 |
