Essex Golf Course -- Challenging small course with great locals and cheap beer
Review by: Tim Sure this course doesn't come close to matching up with other larger courses, but this is a pretty challenging short course that lays in the hilltops with a great view of the town and surrounding area. I couldn't imagine a course with kinder locals who are quick to place you in the middle of the heckling and quick to offer you a beer.

Perry Golf & Country Club -- Best kept secret in central Iowa
Review by: Ron Reitz With rolling hills and mature trees, Perry G&CC is an aesthetically pleasing, yet challenging course. A beautiful pond surrounded by wildflowers is in play on the # 2 and 3 holes. Greens are in fine shape and medium fast. Accuracy off the tee is important because of the trees and some uneven lies. Although it is a private club, green fees for non-residents are easily accessible and very affordable. Carts available. The clubhouse staff is friendly and accommodating. Well worth your time and money.
