Diamond Valley Golf Club -- Bring your "A" game...
Review by: Greg Martin I had heard that the course was tight with trouble on both sides and fast greens. All of which is correct. Bring your "A" game and make sure whatever you hit off of the tee is straight. Sacrifice a 3 wood if you need to ensure you go straight. The course is short to begin with, but short is never indicative of easiness. Great conditions even late in the season (November). Narrow, rolling fairways; bunkers littering the fairways and protecting greens; water protecting a number of the greens. Greens: Brush up on your short game as you need to "take dead aim" on most of the greens (coming up short or going long usually leaves you with a monster putt with serious breaks and undulations). The fairways narrow a bit on the approach. Precision is the key here!Whether off the tee, on the approach, or around the greens. A couple of the par 5s are reachable in two but it is a risky challenge (see above ahout the bunkers and greens). It is worth the drive from San Diego. I highly recommend this course and hope this review is helpful when you take the trip.
