its a great course for anyone to go out and hit a couple. Its not really fancy but its the kind of course where you can go out to play with your son and have fun. |

| Flourtown Country Club -- Good value for the $ |
| Review by: JW |
Only 9 holes but still a good value. Good for a leisurely practice round or a quick 9. There are some challenging holes and a couple that are fairly pedestrian. I rank them, in order of favorite to least favorite, as follows: 6, 7, 8, 2, 4, 1, 3, 5, and 9. (In fairness, a friend of mine who plays a lot of golf considers #9 one of the nicest holes in the Philly area, but I can't see why.) For me, the most challenging holes are 9 and 8 from the back tees; 5 and 7 from the front tees. 5 and 2 from the back tees (both par 5's) offer a reasonable chance at a birdie. Overall, the course is a bit short, but over the course of an 18-hole round (there are alternate tees for the front and back 9) you will likely use all the clubs in your bag. Other than on 7 and 9, there is not much difference between the tees for the front and back 9, other than making the hole longer or shorter as the case may be. I've heard FCC described (by other members) as the best value for the money in the Philly area and I'm inclined to agree. (Just for comparison, in the Philadelphia/Montgomery county area I would give Karakung 1 star and the Philly Cricket Club 5 stars.) |
