River Bend Golf & Country Club -- Quality Private Course in Great Falls, VA
Review by: Michael B Well manicured course, relatively narrow fairways with some rolling hills. Medium sized, moderately fast greens have some level changes. A creek meanders through the course, coming into play (affecting choice of shot) on four holes, with ponds affecting shots on an additional two holes. Course slope is primarily the distance from the tee, rather than difficulty of the shot required from the various color tees. Excellent clubhouse facilities and dining.

Lonesome Pine Country Club -- Lonesome Pine
Review by: J. M. Wilington This is a short course but will kick your butt if you get cocky. Greens are always pretty nice and quick - several a bit smaller than average. It's designer had lots of fund cutting holes and tee boxes out of the mountains. Several picture holes, namely number two where you start about 100 yards ABOVE the hole which plays a par 5 but is easily reachable in two. There's another nasty par 5 on the back nine that only plays about 400 yards but the fairway is as narrow as a keyhole and has a dogleg left which requires a precision iron shot then an approach to an uphill green. It's tough to get on this green in three. Clubhouse is cool. People are great. Good deal if you know a member and can get on.
