Bulle Rock Golf Club -- I already have a mother!
Review by: Scott John Stevenskeith After a terrible first experience two years ago, we decided to give Bulle Rock another shot. After all, all those Golf Digest readers couldn't be totally wrong! I should say that the course is first rate and a wonderful experience. The staff, however, override any enjoyment. Once again, the roving rangers made themselves the bain of the day. You should know that the carts are equiped with pace of play meters that inform you of your expected location throughout the round. Believe it or not, with no one in sight, front or behind, the ranger had the audacity on the fourth hole to inform us that we should be on the green and not hitting from the fairway. That's no more than 40 minutes after handing over $600.00 plus for our foursome. Commical. Felt rushed the whole day and WE ARE FAST PLAYERS by anyone's standards. Never again.

University of Maryland Golf Course -- 4 stars if not 4 the 'modified' greens
Review by: Mike If it weren't for the greens, this would be a 4 or 4.5. Excellent clubhouse and locker rooms, course is well maintained. Hilly course that is longer than most, but not too long. No short par 4s here, save for two, one a blind dogleg left, the other a blind downhiller, both around 360 from the white tees. Most fairways bordered by very large, very old and very well established trees, but fairways not so narrow as to be unfair for average players, but you pay a price for missing the short grass. Water on several holes including a couple of tee shot carries. Greens relatively small, accuracy is important. 12 greens were modified in 2003 for better drainage. Modification basically involved digging deep grooves, about 1/2 inch wide, into the green and then filling them with a special silica sand. These troughs act like indented speed bumps and are impossible to putt well. While I am sure this was done with best intentions, it has essentially made 12 greens virtually unplayable. Hopefully grass will eventually grow over them or they will realize the mistake and fix the greens.
