Review by: lakesider on the course	this course has just what every course needs - character!! the greenskeeper & his crew must really love their jobs because it sure does show in the beauty of the course! each & every hole & green are painstakingly maintained to perfection. not being a terrific golfer myself, i found the course challenging - but isn't that the point of a good course?! the clubhouse staff are wonderful, too! boy, can they pour a mean beer! and the food is to die for! i hope y'all come soon to experience the nirvana i did at lake calhoun outside tiny little lafayette, il!

Tam Golf Course -- *Nice little course*
Review by: RT	Before the village of Niles took over the course (I believe in the late 60's) this was once Tam O' Shanter Country Club of PGA fame. Unfortunatly the village only bought one part of the parcel of land which contained the original clubhouse and a few of the holes (the majority of the holes were located south of Howard Street now an industrial area). The course is kept in very nice shape and has a couple of the old greens still remaining. The best hole (and one of the originals) is the par 3 sixth. A branch of the river winds up the left side of the green while a large deep sand trap guards the right. The only glaring downside to this course is that every fairway but one, parrellels the other. You keep going back and forth.
