Hickory Hill Country Club -- *One and done*
Review by: Kevin	We played Hickory Hills very early on a Saturday morning, and we admit that overcast skies and unusually cool temperatures dampened our spirits... yet, the course was worth right about what we paid ($25.00 on a weekend). No regrets, but certainly not worth more. The clubhouse was minimal, though the staff was very friendly, and quicker than the eye at fetching a hot dog at the turn. Beer prices were reasonable ($11.00 for a six pack) and mixing and matching was allowed. The greens had fresh plug holes that created a new level of hazard we weren't expecting and the fairways were unusually unlevel. Lastly, get your water game ready -- you will need it! There was plenty of "plunking" from our pair!

Wayne Public Golf Course

Great course! Starts off mellow and simple but by the 5th hole you are driving up and over hills to the green. The 7th hole, a Par 3, feels like you are driving off a cliff to get to a tight green. Once you get warmed up on the front nine the fun really begins. Try not to lose too many balls in the creek on the way to the 12th green. The 13th, 14th, and 15th holes are all very challenging Par 3s similar to the 7th hole and very dramatic because you are shooting through a canopy of trees to get to the greens. The 17th hole is par 5 that is cut in half by a creek and immediately followed up by a dog leg. Choose your club wisely when you tee off, and you might get across the creek without losing your ball in the river the creek flows into.

"A great test with a great staff"
if you put your shoes on in the parking lot, and you want to teach the private club fellas a lesson about the grand old game, invite them to bring their games (and attitudes) to rockville's great local muni. make a mistake and add strokes to your round. manage your game, and your temperment, and put up a good number. the course has always been a top ranked muni, known to locals as a tough and demanding test of golf. redgate is not for high handicappers: do not tee off from the back tees unless you are a 10 or better, she'll eat you alive. if you want to play a solid course that will make you manage yourself and you game, try redgate, and when those private club guys wonder how it is they scored well above their posted handicaps, smile and mention that golf is meant to be played, not worshipped.
