Additional Golf Course Reviews:
San Luis Obispo Golf & Country Club -- Slick greens and clean air
Review by: John Fricks This track is relatively hilly with very quick greens. Like many golf courses, many of the holes are adjacent to houses. Not the greatest, but at least they were built by different developers and, therefore, are not "cookie cutter" homes. The course is meticulously maintained with above-average practice facilities (driving range, 2 putting greens, a chipping and pitching green, and a sand trap). Course has had to replace dozens of mature Monterey pines with more immature trees (the pines died due to the beetle infestation) so some of its difficulty has been reduced. Still, when the wind freshens (and with the quick greens), it is still a challenging layout. The first (challenging), sixth and fourteenth (most picturesque) holes are the best; the ninth (layup in front of water with iron on par-4) the worst. The clubhouse was built about 2 years ago and is a gorgeous Santa Barbara mission style.
