Old South Country Club -- Excellent
Review by: Brian From the quirky severe dogleg par 5 #1 to island green par 4 #4, to numbers 9 and 10 (arguably two of the finest par 4's in the region), the course is a treat. Although yardage markers are few and far between and local knowledge is key, the front nine plays open and the back is pretty tight. #16 is noteworthy because even at about 120 yards it is severely downhill with a pot bunker 10 feet deep on the left. #17 is a 420 yard dogleg left requiring a long drive over or beside left side bunkers and an approach through a tube of trees on either side. Good luck but what a hidden gem this course is!

Laytonsville Golf Club -- changes
Review by: a. hamlen as a child walking to this course i would actually golf up the side of the street on the way there. back then you had plenty of land throughout damascus and laytonsville to hit a 9 iron back and forth. but nothing compared to the intoxicating feeling of actually stepping on a real green. for me this was at laytonsville golf club. though i moved away for some years i returned to the area to see many new neigborhoods and alot less farm land(or driving ranges). i no longer knew all of my neighbors and even my old family house seemed a little tainted by the changes. it wasn't until i stood on the now front nine first green that i felt like a child again. thank you for not changing
