Club of the Country, The -- Is now Metcalf Ridge
Review by: Rex The course is now known a Metcalf Ridge. The best time to play is between mid April (when the fairways start greening up) thru Sept. Dry weather is not a factor on course condition(s) due to several ponds used to water the course. When other courses are brown and dry this one stays green. These same ponds become "hazards" on the 7th & 16th and a few others if you have a bad slice. Overall the course is very nice, but tests your skills due to the fairly narrow fairways, rather tall and very thick rough, and the few times you need to cross the small creek which runs through the middle. I rate this course 4.5 stars on a 5 star rating.

Buffalo Dunes Golf Course -- One of the best public courses I have played!
Review by: PhaatKaat Let me start by saying I have played 100's of golf courses all across the USA and Canada. Most of them were average at best. A few were really enjoyable, but Prairie Dunes made a huge impression on me. In fact, I went to the internet looking for a place to post a review for this track. This was a wonderful golf experience. One that does not come along very often. Not to mention a tremendous bargin. $30 with cart on a weekday. I would compare the value to Pinion Hills in Farmington, NM. The course was in excellent condition when we played it on 8/31/05. Prairie Dunes has several challenging holes. Believe it or not, there are several tee shots that have blind or slightly hidden landing areas. The tee boxes and fairways were in excellent condition. Bring extra golf balls if you are not straight off the tee, especially if it is windy.(which it usually is...it was 30mph with gusts to 40mph the day we were there.) The rough is thick, but playable. The native grass rough areas are very thick and not playable in most areas. The greens held a shot nicely, but were faster than I had expected. I would say they were an 8 to 9 on the Stimp. You will have a great time on this course!! Prarie Dunes has a wonderfully friendly staff to boot! It is worth the trip to experience this gem!
