Homestead Golf & Country Club -- X-OUTS LOVE HOMESTEAD
Review by: Art Aldrich My golf group, the Boeing Employees Golf Association T. Berry X-OUTS League, has had the pleasure of visiting Homestead Farms in mid-August for the past six years for a 54 hole tournament competed by about 20 golfers over three days. Homestead makes the reservations for three days of play and we always play our final round at the Homestead course. For the third consecutive year we will also play Semi-ah-moo and Loomis Trail, certainly ranked among the outstanding courses on the West Coast, as is Homestead. We are accomodated at the condominiums along the sixth fairway. They are always immaculately maintained and have everything required for a very pleasant stay. The staff at Homestead are genuinely devoted to assuring as pleasant a stay as possible for a bunch of old men (our average age is about 67). The restaurant fare is excellent and the bar fun. We will continue to come to Homestead each August as long as they can stand us!!! Art Aldrich President T. Berry X-OUTS thegolfnazi@aol.com

Surfside Golf Course -- Fun 9 holes
Review by: Greg Wilhelm If you are already in Long Beach, this course is great to get your golf fix. The best feature of this course is the greens. You can tell that they spent money on them; they can be challenging with their undulations. The course is well maintained. I saw a bunch of moving hazards (mule deer) on this course. This course can get busy on holiday weekends. They have a little "irons only" driving range as well. I agree with the other poster that the other course on the peninsula is not worth playing. The greens there are horrible.
