| Western Greens Country Club -- Fun | ||
| Review by: Ric Brown | This may not be a "championship" style course with perfect tees and fairways, but this course is fun to play. There are plenty of challenges that require thinking about placing your shot. You can't just "grip it and rip it" here. It isn't too long, either. The average golfer has a chance to reach the par 5's in two and the par 3's are not easy. I would have to say the favorite thing I like about this place is the people. They're your average, down-home people. They always have a smile and treat you like a friend. The rates are great and tee-times aren't hard to come by. Give this place a try! | |

| Tecumseh Country Club -- Best in Lenawee County | ||
| Review by: Jim Kelly | Thank you Tecumseh Country Club. This course is very special to me. It introduced me to the game when I was a teenager. The course is all around delightful to play. It is very challenging, and will on occasion humble the best player. In my humble opinion, the best holes on the course are eight, nine, fifteen and eighteen. The eighth hole is a blind dogleg that twists around a thicket, and leads to a green nestled in among maple trees. Though not a long hole, it is very unforgiving, and a birdie here will bring a smile. The ninth opens with a hit from a high bluff, overlooking a tributary of the Raisin River. It requires a powerful drive to clear a mighty maple tree just left of center of the fairway, some 200 yards out. The fifteenth is the most spectacular of all, a long par 5, with a blind tee shot into lush ravine. This hole changes elevations three times. Players are required to ring a bell indicating it is clear for the following group to tee off. The closing hole is a long par 4 dogleg right, which climbs to the west exposure of the clubhouse. I have seen many matches won and lost on this hole. I am a former caddy from this private club in southeast Michigan. In 1968, at the tender age of 12, I met a group of golf caddies who were as eager as me learn the game. For the next few seasons, I carried bags for some of the finest club players that I have ever known. This old course introduced me some of the finest people ever. I learned true sportsmanship, and developed a great love for the game. I am now convinced golf is the finest game ever conceived by man. Special acknowledgement to then Golf Profesisonals, Art Michelke, Stan Brion. | |
