Turbot Hills Golf Course -- *Bad Condition*
Review by: Adam	The course was in pretty bad shape when I plyed it. The fairaway and rough were not well kept at all and it was very soggy and wet everywhere. However the par threes are nice and it is a difficult course. Would not pay to play it.

Review by: Duffy Hacket	This is a very nice course, quite challenging and very well maintained! But the greens fee is what's confusing. My first time there, I requested an 18-hole greens fee. After being told how much I owed, I had to ask if that was for 9 or 18!. Very reasonable fees!

Andover Golf & Country Club
"One of the Best"
Andover is certainly one the best course in the region. It is very challenging as well as one of the most beautiful courses around. The greens at peak season are like glass, the roughs will chew you up and cost additional strokes and the narrow fairways boarded by homes will make you shiver. Your score is determined how well you can over come the fear of taking a full swing or whimp out just to keep it in play. Not being an extra long course makes you contemplate the great shots instead of the smart ones. When you make a mistake take the bogey and go on to the next hole.

This golf course is sneaky long, but it is made difficult because the greens won't hold a shot longer than a nine iron, the greens are too small and there is very little space on either side of most of the greens to make a chip shot. This course is much poorer than several public layouts and the membership is both expensive and poorly managed.

"Classic Donald Ross"
This course is short in yardage (6200), but plays much longer. One reason is that there are only 2 par 5's on a par 70 track. The par 3's are classic Ross. 3 of the 4 can play over 190 yards to postage stamp greens. There are a lot of down and up style par 4's, but there is also variety. Holes 10,11 and 18 are good examples of tough, well thought out par 4's that demand accuracy and thought. A four is an excellent score on all of these holes. The course is generally in excellent condition and has undergone some minor renovations. You will notice that the greens are exceptionally small, even for a Ross course. Greens are properly protected with bunkers and have just the right amount of undulation. One designer has stated that these are the smallest greens he has ever seen on a Ross course (which may be its claim of distinction among the many Ross courses). There is a premium on iron play and short game. Greens are quick, but not penal. Everyone thinks they can bring this course to its knees, but it usually is the other way around. The course can frustrate you if you expect too much too easily. This is what makes it such a wonderful place to experience the brilliance of Donald Ross. "New golf course that is fun to play"
Good condition, straight forward and fun to play. Plays shorter than the yardage and the ball tends to feed towards the fairways. Greens are very nice. It is an enjoyable experience and a pretty place to play. I recommend it to anyone heading to California's Antelope Valley.
