Featured Golf Course Review:
| Powelton Club, The -- Enjoyable course and a fair test |
| Review by: Simon Fothergill |
The day we played was very wet, yet the course drained exceptionally well. The course isn't too long though undulations throughout the course and being very well kept ensured a challenging test. The layout is excellent with a good distribution of par 3's and 5's. There are a few streams that come into play and the bunkers are well placed to punish poor shots, though the couple of lakes sadly pose no threat. Well worth a trip! |

| Links at Union Vale, The -- Irish links golf |
| Review by: Dave |
The Links requires careful play. Bunkers are everywhere requiring careful study of the course book provided with your scorecard. You have to manage the course. For example, I had a four Iron shot into a green with a large deep bunker in front and junk immediately behind the green. I took a seven iron and played it short and to a safe area to the right and then a pitch shot onto the green. Played for a bogie and avoided the double or worse.
This is not a course that gives up low scores, expect to score higher than usual. Expect to loose balls, the rough and ponds make that inevitable.
Course is not for beginners, occasional players, or emotional players. |
