Westwood Hills Country Club -- Much-Improved Course Renovated in 2002
Review by: Ozark Golfer Short yet challenging course. Home course for the Ozark Invitational, held annualy in late April. Poplar Bluff has many good, serious golfers including the Godwin family. Father Luther (Buddy) Godwin is a former MO Amateur Champion (early 70's) and his son Bobby won the inaugural MO Amateur stroke play championship in the mid 90's. Youngest son Ben won the MO Amateur (match play) in 2003. Very good course and an even better value for its members. The course went through an extensive renovation project from the fall of 2001 through spring of 2002. Nice greens and the shapely bunkers are plentiful. Also, there are now beautiful, plush zoyzia fairways. One of the best courses between St. Louis and Memphis. There are a few ponds but to my knowledge there is no water running along some fairways as is stated on this site.

Bent Oak Golf Club -- challange of the area
Review by: Martin W.Rich Provides a challenge to experienced golfers, while providing shorter length holes for seniors or the less experienced and beginning golfers. There are 4 tees at each hole;Black tees for tournament play, gold tees for the scratch or near scratch players, blue tees for seniors or those with handicaps, and silver forward tees for those golfers of lesser experience, ability or strength. For the hearty golfer it provides a challenging walk on both front and back.It is scenic and provides a quiet atmosphere.Greens and fairways are in good condition.Roughs are challenging but not impossible to play.Hazards are kept clearly marked with red, white or yellow paint. Workers and marshals are both friendly and helpful. Both extend courtesy to golfers and respect their need for concentration by pausing to provide silence while golfer is addressing the ball. Marshals are courteous but firm when enforcing the course rules for the protection of course and equipment as well as the rights of other golfers. The ProShop has a large and varied selection of golf equipment and offer discounts at various times..The Bunkers Grill as a varied menu and workers strive to provide golfers with tasty food and refreshments.. Rates are compatible with other courses in the area. The course has a senior women and men's league which play on a regular basis.. Highly recommend the course for an enjoyable outing of golf by an individual, family or by a group.
