Benvenue Country Club -- *Subtle test*
Review by: Dank Lunton	This Ross gem in "Remarkable" Rocky Mount is a beautifully laid out stacked hole course. You can see a lot of the holes you're playing from any point on the golf course. The greens are smallish and are generally sloped severely from back to front. The fairways and rough are well manicured, nestled between giant willow oaks and pines. The par 5's are all quite long from the gold tees despite the seeming short yardages. All 3 shot holes for me. The gold tees at 6600 yards are deceptively long and the course probably plays more like 6800 or 6900. Great course in a great town. Check out Central Cafe in downtown Rocky Mount after your round for the best burger and dog you'll ever put in your mouth.

Twin Lakes Golf Course -- *Nice people*
Review by: High handicapper	I played TLGC for the first time after having great difficulty finding it[no signs on any highway and the closest gas station thought it was nearby but didn't know where]. The nine-hole course is nestled in a lovely community. The greens are well maintained and very fast with undulating surfaces and surrounding traps are strategically placed and well prepared. Fairways are rather rough and close together on #'s 1,2&3. You need to play close attention to other golfers because tee areas are unprotected and throughout the day folks were hitting in to tee areas. Play was casual and slow with lots of singles, doubles and triples. Few foursomes and no ranger. I was glad I played it but probably will not go back.

Pine Grove Country Club
"a hidden gem"
This course is a great blend of old and new, and calls for skilled shotmaking throughout the round. Originally opened around the turn of the century, the older holes are generally narrow, lined with huge pines, and have small, but accessible greens. The newer holes climb Iron Mountain, (take a cart!) and are defined in large part by elevation changes which require a 2-3 club adjustment. These greens are much larger, but more difficult to read and putt due to the mountain topography. All of the par 5's are reachable for the stronger golfers, but three of them are dog-legs which swallow errant drives...grip it and rip it at your own risk. This is a nice course; we play it every summer and have been made to feel very welcome as visitors. The members built a new club house 3 years ago after vandals burned the old one. Nice locker room, bar, dining area and pro shop. I would rate this course at 3 1/2 stars and with only slightly better maintenance and grooming the rating would go to a 4. You'll be pleasantly surprised if you try this course.

What a great course!!!! Tough, windy, good greens, Robert Trent Jones design, mountains, scenery, helpful staff and outstanding price. What can you ask for more? only one thing, the slope is underrated and you'll shoot higher scores. Not to be missed

Querbes Park Golf Course
"Fun course... worth playing at least once"
It's a decent course. For the price, it's very good. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars. $14 is cheap for 18 holes of golf. Many of the greens are strangely small. Too small in some cases. Although, since many holes are very short, the small greens make them harder, which is good. No real bunkers. There are some strange dug up pits with sand in them, but they look like an afterthought. I wish they did the bunkers correctly, or just completely left them out. There are a few very fun holes on back-9. I recommend playing the course at least once. I did play the course during winter so the greens weren't too great, but it's understandale in February. I will definately play there more in the spring when conditions will be better. Especially being a college student, I'm all for the price.

Stony Ford Golf Course
"Can Be Rough"
Must catch early in the season due to the amount of play it gets. Looks a little worn out by July, especially if there is no rain. Could use some improvement. I have played worse.
