Golf Digest rated Christmas Lake GC as a four-star course. A few years ago it was rated one of Indiana's most challenging public courses. Among local golfers it has been well known that the rough and greens were in need of work. Extensive renovation has been completed over the past two years to remedy this. Until now carts had to stay on paths or fairways at all times. The front nine winds through Christmas Lake Village, a huge gated housing community. The back nine climbs up and down forested terrain where it is not atypical to have a family of deer attempting to play through your foursome. America's first theme park, Holiday World, is only two miles away. |

This course is small in size due to the par 27 back 9, but don't let the looks fool you. Every fairway is narrow and with most holes, a tee shot (or any other one for that matter) not hit straight will find trouble in the woods. The 4th hole is one to look out for. Unless you can drive the ball over some trees on the right, a golfer is better off playing this hole in percentages instead of "just going for it". |
