Mariner's Point Golf Links & Practice Center -- *Cold, Windy, Crowded*
Review by: GolfAddict	I'm no snob who only goes to private courses but management lets things go too far here. It would try anyone's patience to play behind a party of seven. I expected a short nine holes but it lasted forever playing after that group. And the conditions were frigid and windy. Too much aggravation for too little fun.

TimberStone Golf Course
"Worth the trip"
This course is easily the best course I have played. It's on a par with Blackwolf Run and the other Kohler courses at a fraction of the price. This course has a spectacular setting. It winds up and around Iron Mountain, and is a marvel of course design. Despite the elevation changes, only one hole plays uphill. The holes are cut out of the mountain side and winding cart paths take you to the next level, and hole, until you reach numbers 9 and 17, both of which play straight downhill (as does 18, a 600 yard par five with 3 terraced fairways). The grooming is immaculate and each hole is separated from the others by woods or water. Even on a busy day it feels like you're the only golfers on the course. The staff is friendly and efficient and the course is nicely rangered. As you play the course, you will marvel both at the quality of the experience and the incredible engineering required during construction. Rates have been in the $50-60 range for the past several years and its the best golf bargain you can find. This is a course you could play every day and it would remain interesting. The fairways and greens compare with any PGA site. This is one not to miss.

"Nice Layout"
Course is well laid out, no worry of hitting into or being hit by other fairways. Golf community with housing that doesn't inhibit play. Bent grass greens are small, but fast and true. Traps need work. Rolling terrain provides challenge. Water hazards on about half the holes. Pretty course.

Stevens Park Golf Course
"Classic Muny"
Stevens is only a few minutes from downtown. It's in a beautiful area and has some scenic views of Dallas. It's a classic muny and a good course to walk. There are many challenging holes and there are some very easy holes. Number 2 is a very short par 4 and is reachable from all of the tees. Number 12 is a short par 5 dog leg that is reachable in 2 but there are many well placed trees and an elevated green with a mean slope and you'll be happy if you get your 5. There are a few holes where you can hit your drive as far as you can but most take some strategy off the tee. On 17 you can hit 220 yards straight away or 140 yards to the right side of the fairway and both will leave an open short iron shot to the green... if you avoid two beautiful oaks and a wide creek on that tee shot. The par 3's are gorgeous and the two on the back are included in the 3 hardest on the back nine handicap chart. Stevens Park is a favorite, great taquitos in the snack bar too.

"Long time player"
I have played this coarse for the past fifteen years and have seen a lot of good changes. The fairways are in much better shape than in past years. The water hazards are clean and a challenge to the average golfer.The greens are in excellent shape. The only thing that is missing are sand traps. For someone just learning the game and wants to have fun, this is the place.
