Savannah Golf Club, The -- Deceptively Challenging
Review by: Joel Crisler Although relatively short in length, the Savannah Golf Club is a typical Donald Ross design in that it demands use of all clubs in your bag and the ability to shape shots. The greens are generally small, slope up from front to rear, and can be very slick. Shots ending above the hole can easily turn into 3-putts. All of the par-5's are reachable in two shots to low-handicap, long hitters, but more birdies on these holes generally result from well-placed 1st and 2nd shots and agressive 3rd shot sand wedges. Holes 1, 2, 4, and 6 are demanding par-4's that most good golfers are happy to score par on. There is only 1 par-5 on the front and 3 on the back, and the par-4's on the back are also less demanding, making the inward 9 at least 3 or 4 strokes easier than the front side. Low-handicappers can expect a minimum of 4 or 5 birdies in a good round, but bogies and double-bogies can sneak up and bite you on even the most seemingly benign holes. Finally, there are many good players and the members here can expect to play their round in less than 4 hours.

Henderson Golf Club -- Not good!
Review by: Joe K. I am sooooo upset about my round at Henderson. I have heard alot of people talk about this course as a place to play in this area. Wow is this course UGLY! Ugly homes with UGLY yards. I saw some backyards with grass a foot high and weeds everywhere! Greens were OVER aerated and even spin balls BOUNCED like superballs. Course is TOO narrow for the weekend warrior and VERY SHORT! A drive in the middle of the fairway most likely will NOT be sitting on grass! Dirt was the rule on the fairway! There are only 2 holes on the course that I remember saying ..."this is a pretty hole" The rest were forgettable. This course isn't even on par with your standard city owned municipal courses.

Mary Calder Golf Club -- Mary Calder Golf Course
Review by: Myrtle Haynes This is a nice flat course for elders. I am ninety years old and I golf three times a week. It is also affordable considering I live on a limited income.
