Like Stanwich in Greenwich, CT, Hampshire is a short course that demands good ball control. Small greens and tight fairways make this a course to tune your game.
The back is strong, but could use another 40+ yards on the 10th. The Par 3s on the front are as tough as any (145, 230 and 212). The 8th is a little tricked out, and seems to be the only true weakness.
It's suprisingly under-rated and has the potential to be a great gem in the Westchester area. Greens tend to be a bit on the slow side, (9) but the potential of the course is there waiting to come out. Firm the fairways, roll the greens (make them 11s) and this course will be spectacular. |
