River Mont Golf Course -- Good little course
Review by: Mark Smith My great uncle actually built the course and I played it during my highschool years as our home course. It's well taken care of and pretty challenging due to the "hills" and "hollows". It helps if you can smack a long drive and chip decently, especially on the greens with steep sides (#2).. Not a country club caliber course but it has the basics for what you get out there for - to get better.. Pretty in the Fall of the year...

Hope Valley Country Club -- HVCC is a Donald Ross Masterpiece
Review by: Terry Crews From the beautiful slate terrace of the Club, one can look out and see the natural beauty of the Donald Ross designed course. Once on the course, this natural beauty turns into a beast. With the exception of a few holes (3, 4, 11, 12, 16), HVCC is relatively easy tee to green. It is when you arrive on the green that your putting skills and mental toughness are challenged. These magnificent (and recently renovated) greens with classic Ross false fronts, back to front or inverted saucer slopes, and subtle breaks seemingly everywhere around the hole provide you with plentiful mental anguish from three or more putting. If you have the opportunity to be in the Durham area and can arrange a round on this jewel, it will be an unforgettable golfing experience.
